At Humphrey, Giacopuzzi & Associates Equine Hospital (HGAE), we offer comprehensive preventative care services tailored to your horse’s individual needs. Our fully equipped hospital in Somis, California, performs routine vaccinations, deworming, and dental care.
Our team provides everything from routine dental floats to complex oral surgeries, including fracture repair and extractions, all performed in-house by our experienced veterinarians. We recommend annual physical and dental exams, especially for senior horses, to support long-term health and comfort.
Every float includes the use of full-mouth speculums and motorized equipment to ensure a safe, thorough treatment. Each visit includes a detailed oral exam to check for common issues such as hooks, waves, loose or fractured teeth, and signs of infection.
Internal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care
Our team-based approach allows us to manage complex internal medicine cases, critical emergencies, and neonatal intensive care with speed and precision. Immediate access to diagnostics, including a full in-house laboratory, blood gas analysis, ultrasonography, radiology, and endoscopy, ensures timely, informed decision-making.
Hospital stalls are fully equipped to deliver intravenous fluids, and oxygen support is available throughout our intensive care units. While we do not house blood donor horses on-site, we maintain reliable access to equine donors for emergency transfusions when needed.

Digital Radiology
Our digital radiology (DR) system offers exceptional image quality, with instant viewing capabilities. Radiographs are available during hospital visits and in the field for pre-purchase examinations, lameness evaluations, and colic workups involving the abdomen.
Ultrasonography
We offer equine ultrasound imaging for soft tissue injuries, abdominal and thoracic evaluations, and detailed imaging of smaller structures such as the eye and umbilicus.
Endoscopy and Gastroscopy
Our endoscopy services include both a 1.5-meter and a 3.5-meter scope, allowing full visualization of the equine upper airway, guttural pouches, stomach, and urinary tract. Video imaging enables owners to view the procedure alongside our clinicians for greater understanding and confidence.
